BOOK DONATIONS FOR SCHOOL LIBRARIES

College Students and teachers from Marcellin Berthelot '' school in Begle, Bordeaux in France, who last year under the auspices of Palilula Municipality and support of the French Embassy in Serbia - Honorary Consul of France in Nis, presented a joint project - theatre play "The Little Prince" as for appreciation, sent their friends from elementary school '' Kralj Petar Prvi'' in Nis dedicated donation of 2,000 EU, for the purchase of books for their school library.

On this occasion, in the presence of the Palilula Municipal president Boban Džunić, Honorary Consul of France in Nis, Sasa Miljković and school principals of `Kralj Petar Prvi` Robert Džunić were promoted the book titles.

In the words of Robert Džunić, school principal of "Kralj Petar Prvi" school library, which has over ten thousand titles, received one valuable gift. Donation of our friends - School of Begle,  with whom we have an extraordinary cooperation, will benefit both students and professors. In the matter of fact, members of the library are all students of the school which are over a thousand.

This grant from our French friends, for the purchase of books, which will be available in the school library, is another sign of great friendship between nations of these two countries, which, thanks to the participation of young people, exceeds the limits of diplomatic relations, said the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić. Palilula Municipality is establishing also decentralized cooperation with France, it is a form of cooperation that is primarily intended for meeting people, government, culture and population of local government. The long-term goal of this cooperation is to support the exchange visit or a joint approach to European funds. With Honorable Consul of France in Nis, Mr. Sasa Miljkovic we are considering participation of Palilula Municipality in EU projects and continuance of cooperation with the cities in France.

Thanks to this donation, according to Aleksandra Arsic, professor of French language, our school library was enriched for hundreds of titles. These publications are in English and Serbian language which will be of great help to the students of our school. Cooperation with our colleagues in France are continuing at the end of May when it will be held in Bordeaux the final event of the competition for European citizenship. Schoolgirl Vanja Nikolic and me, as a representative of the school "Kralj Petar Prvi ', our Municipality of Palilula and the City of Nis, will participate in the central program.

Saša Miljkovic, Honorary Consul of France in Nis, said that cooperation with schools in France have lasted for three years. I hope you will continue to do so. It is an expression of good will and commitment that exists with the French and the Serbian side. The fact is that all these activities, exchange of students, joint productions, theater play "The Little Prince" and future visits, would not be achievable if there is no such support in the administration of Palilula Municipality, City of Nis but also the involvement of people who work in schools and parents of pupils. There are great possibilities that this cooperation will not only continue but also be deepened. Concrete things were today in the form of books or working on other forms of support, plan joint projects. We are trying to revive the cooperation not only in the field of culture, youth and civil society, but to also touch the economy. We will try to develop cooperation of  commercial nature, which will support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, in the development of organic cherry farming production for the  processors in the Gironde.

International cooperation of the City of Nis-Palilula Municipality and the French departments in the Gironde in areas of ​​youth, culture and environment was established in October 2012 with the support of the Embassy of France in Serbia. With international bilateral cooperation of the primary pupils of `Kralj Petar Prvi'' in Nis and College '' Marcellin Berthelot '' in Bagle, Bordeaux in France, this protocol is concretized. Palilula Municipality established in 2012 the cooperation with the French city Dulene, after which the project was implemented by students and professors of `Svetozar Markovic` Grammar School.
